Häufige Fragen zur Physiotherapie & Online-Therapie | DigiPhysio
Is online physiotherapy covered by my health insurance?
From July 1, 2025, online physiotherapy will be covered by accident insurance. Currently, the mandatory health insurance does not yet cover the costs for online physiotherapy. Many people have a high deductible of CHF 2,500. This means that costs up to this amount must initially be paid out of pocket. Thanks to our treatment philosophy focusing on self-management and our attractive prices per session, investing in your health is worthwhile.
What happens during an online physiotherapy appointment, including the treatment plan?
You will receive a link to join the video call. You can easily open it on your laptop, smartphone, or tablet.
At your online physiotherapy appointment, you can expect four key steps:
1. Detailed medical history and symptom analysis
We will collect your complete medical history, discuss your current complaints, symptoms, their impact on your daily life, and previous treatment attempts.
2. Movement analysis and functional tests
Through targeted movement analysis and functional tests via video, your mobility, muscle strength, and stability will be assessed. This helps identify exactly where your pain originates, which movements are limited, and which structures are involved.
3. Expert diagnosis and realistic healing prognosis
You will receive a clear explanation of your complaints as well as a realistic estimate of the expected recovery time.
4. Recommendations & personalized training plan
You will get concrete recommendations on what you can actively do during your current rehabilitation phase—and what you should avoid or adjust. Additionally, you will receive an evidence-based, individually tailored exercise program to strengthen, stabilize, and mobilize the affected structures.
Is online physiotherapy as effective as in-clinic treatment?
Yes! Current studies show that online physiotherapy is just as effective as traditional in-clinic treatment.
Thanks to the extensive experience and expert knowledge of our specialized physiotherapists, we obtain a precise diagnosis through your information and targeted follow-up questions. Then, we deepen the examination with movement analyses and functional tests to confirm or exclude the diagnosis. Based on this, we create an individual treatment plan tailored to your needs—just like in a personal in-clinic session.
Several scientific studies confirm the effectiveness and benefits of online physiotherapy:

Do I need a follow-up appointment?
Generally, yes – follow-up appointments are important to adjust your personalized rehab plan and to closely monitor your healing progress. Depending on the rehab phase, exercises and recommendations may change. Regular online sessions are especially recommended after surgeries. In some cases, a single online appointment with a customized training plan for your self-management is sufficient. For example, injured runners often benefit from just one online consultation to receive an individualized training plan with clear exercises and recommendations.
